As the senior members of the Group, Explorers work towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and also the Chief Scout Award Platinum and Diamond Challenges.
Although managed by a team of adult Leaders, Explorers run their own programme which promotes leadership and team skills as they move into adulthood. Typical activities, in addition to the watersports offered at Sea Scout level, include mountaineering, mountain biking, gliding and caving.
The balanced Explorers programme is built around the six Programme Zones:
