Cubs

Cubs meet Mondays 18:00 – 19:30
Cubs is the second section of the Scouting movement, originally started in 1916 for younger brothers who wanted a ‘look-in’. A Pack of Cub Scouts is organised into Sixes, with a Sixer and a Seconder in charge.
Who are Cubs
Cubs are young people aged 8 to 10½ who:
– Master new skills and try new things
– Have fun and go on adventures
– Make friends
– Are curious about the world around them
– Help others and make a difference, in their own communities and beyond
Every week, they gather in groups called Cub Packs to take part in lots of interesting and challenging activities – achieving anything they set their minds to, and having lots of fun along the way.
Strive and achieve!
Cub Scouts can earn loads of different badges covering a variety of skills:
Activity Badges all offer a chance to try a different skill; from artist to skater, book reader to home safety, martial arts to local knowledge. There is something for everyone to try and many can be done from home. Or improve at a skill over time with a Staged Activity Badges. From musician to swimmer, first aid to sailing they are core skills to any individual. They also keep track of the number of nights and hikes away a young person has completed.
The highest award a Cub Scout can work towards is the Chief Scout’s Silver Award. To reach this, Cubs earn Challenge Awards to really push them in every part of the programme. Chances are every Cub will complete several by the time they move to Scouts.
